Barston Young Farmers Charity Clay Shoot

A big thank you to everyone who helped at and competed in our charity shoot on the 13th of September. We managed to raise just over £1400 for the MNDA.

Congratulations to Mr G McNally, who was Top Gun. Other results can be seen on our Charity Events Page.

We would also like to acknowledge all of our sponsors, without whose support and generosity, our Clay Shoot would not have been so successful.

Barston YFC Annual Charity Selected

This Year we will be raising money for The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance - registered charity number 1098874.

The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was established in October 2003 to provide an emergency medical service for the heart of England including Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. Prior to this, the region had relied on older, slower aircraft with limited space for onboard patient treatment. The new service shifted the emphasis from transporting casualties to hospital, to recognising the need to get senior Doctors and Consultants to the scene of incidents as quickly as possible, providing lifesaving treatment and medication at the scene and en-route to hospital. Harvey Antrobus 30th November 1979 - 17th August 2008

Harvey

It is with great shock and sadness that we all learned about the death of Harvey when the plane he was travelling in collided with another plane in the skies above Coventry on Sunday 17th August.

Harvey had been a Young Farmers Club member for many years and was a regular face at the activities of Bartson and other clubs in Warwickshire and the surrounding counties.

Harvey was one of those people that always had a smile on his face, was outgoing and lived like there was no tomorrow.

Our condolences go to his family.

We all miss you mate!

A tribute to Harvey has been set up on the Lasting Tribute website. You can view Harvey's page and leave comments by clicking below.

Barston YFC - REVIEW OF 2007

2007 was a very successful year for Barston Young Farmers Club. It started with a disco to raise money for club funds, which had the theme of emergency services. This provided us with a rather interesting selection of doctors and nurses and a rather scary pair of rubber gloves!

We had meetings every Tuesday night, with a varied programme of activities and talks, including hypnotherapy, first aid and pumpkin carving.

We entered the Warwickshire County Young Farmers Rally, where we finished 4th overall, our best result for several years!

Kenilworth 07

Nine of our members attended the National Federation of Young Farmers AGM in Torquay. The kind of things they got up to there? . . . best left untold!

Throughout the year we held several events to raise funds for our charity of the year, The Meningitis Trust. These included our annual quiz, which had a record number of entries, a stand at the Kenilworth Show and a clay pigeon shoot. In total we raised the fantastic amount of £2619.50. Matt Croxall, from The Meningitis Trust, was presented with the cheque at our Christmas Dance by Chairman Jo Hayward and Treasurer Anna Blythe.
